What is more refreshing than a watermelon? A watermelon margarita with some kick!
This is the ultimate summer drink but when you live in Florida this drink is popular all year loooong.
It’s sweet. It’s salty. It’s spicy.
1 jalapeno, thinly sliced
¾ cup white tequila (a decent brand)
½ of a watermelon
½ cup fresh lime juice
⅓ cup Triple Sec
1 bunch of fresh basil
Optional: salt, chili powder, and lime juice for salting rims of glasses
Place tequila and about 6 slices of jalapeno in a glass measuring cup and place in the refrigerator overnight.
Juice half the watermelon in a juicer or blend in a blender until liquefied. If you juice the watermelon you won’t have to pour watermelon through a fine-meshed strainer. Measure out 3 cups of watermelon juice.
In a large pitcher, combine watermelon juice, tequila, lime juice and Triple Sec. Mash the basil in bottom with a wooden spoon.
Fill a tumbler with ice and juice. Shake and pour into glasses.
Line glasses with chili salt, garnish with lime slices and jalapeno slices if desired.
Invite your friends and neighbors over for a cool sip.
